Hadith and Halaal

Like the Holy Quran, the Hadith is also a fundamental source of the Islamic Shariah. In fact, the message of the Holy Quran cannot be fully understood without studying and understanding the Ahadith. Therefore,in the field of Halaal too, as in case of all the other teachings of Islam, it is compulsory to study the related Ahadith. Keeping this fact in view, this section has been dedicated to those Ahadith which contain teachings about Halaal and Haraam. Each Hadith is accompanied by its translation and a brief explanation. We hope our readers will find this section as helpful as the other ones, IN SHA ALLAH.


 

Benefit of Halaal: Worship and Prayers Granted

عن بن عباس قال تليت هذه الآية عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم ( يا أيها الناس كلوا مما في الأرض حلالا طيبا ) فقام سعد بن أبي وقاص فقال يارسول الله ادع الله أن يجعلني مستجاب الدعوة فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم يا سعد أطب مطعمك

تكن مستجاب الدعوة والذي نفس محمد بيده إن العبد ليقذف اللقمة الحرام في جوفه ما يتقبل منه عمل أربعين يوما وأيما عبد نبت لحمه من السحت والربا فالنار أولى به۔ (المعجم الأوسط:6/ 310، مجمع الزوائد:4/ 143)

Translation:

It has been narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ibn-e-Abbaas (May Allah be pleased with both of them) that once the Aayah يا أيها الناس كلوا مما في الأرض حلالا طيبا was recited

Seeking Halaal is Obligatory

وعن أنس بن مالك عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: طلب الحلال واجب على كل مسلم . رواه الطبراني في الاوسط وإسناده حسن . (مجمع الزوائد للهيثمي:4/ 143)

Translation:

 Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Seeking Halaal is a duty binding on every Muslim.”

Brief Comments:

This hadith shows that it is compulsory and mandatory for a Muslim to seek and earn halal. Some other traditions also contain similar teachings although the words are different. Some of such narrations are as under:
